GRANBURY — Joseph L. “Joey” McMahon, Jr., 67, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in Granbury.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at Wiley Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation: Noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Special Olympic Athletes or Cook Children’s Medical Center.
Mr. McMahon was born Sept. 8, 1944, in Pecos, Texas, to Joseph Lee McMahon, Sr. and Von Delle Madison McMahon. He married Beverly Barrett, Oct. 14, 1994, in Lubbock. Joey grew up in Balmorhea, Texas and was a graduate of McMurry University in Abilene where he played basketball. He was the owner/operator of J&J Feed Pens in Verhalen, Texas. He later relocated to Lubbock where he was ground water supervisor for the City of Lubbock until his retirement. After retirement he returned to school and began a new career as a Special Education Teacher for Plano ISD before retiring to Granbury. He was preceded in death by his first wife, “Pat”, in 1987.
Survivors: Wife, Beverly McMahon of Granbury; son, Monte McMahon and wife, Lorie, of Coleman, Texas; daughter, Miste Kennedy and husband, Brandon, of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Zane, Nathan and Daniel McMahon; parents, Joseph and Von McMahon, Sr. of Stephenville; sister, Linda Partain of Stephenville.
