Born January 25, 1937 in Ft. Worth, Texas to John Dennis and Ruby Lee Crane, this Renaissance woman lived an incredibly full and unique life. From riding rapids with headhunters in the jungles of Borneo, documenting crop circle phenomena in Scotland, chumming around on walkabout in the outback of Australia with her Aboriginal friends, then on to training the learning-disabled in right-brain/left-brain techniques, sewing her son’s clothes (including a prom tuxedo), canning tomatoes, gourmet cooking and catching her own supper in the Brazos River, Joyce had more exploits than most people can imagine. She was valedictorian of Birdville High School in 1954, then graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in home economics and became a public school teacher. Later, she earned another degree in mathematics to teach those with learning disabilities. Upon moving to a small farm on the Brazos River near Granbury in the early 1970s with her husband and sons, she learned to fish, garden and farm, then used her cooking and sewing skills to become a classic, hardy Texas woman. Once her sons were off to college, Joyce started a travel agency in Granbury and began traversing the planet. Upon development and honing of her expert world travel skills, she then turned her interests to paranormal and UFO research, taking groups of tourist researchers everywhere from Samoan caves of “the little people”, chasing chupacabra in Puerto Rico and discovering new glyphs at Stonehenge. Members of her group published books and articles and provided groundbreaking research that is recognized internationally. She was interviewed and featured in many television and radio shows and documentaries on History, Discovery and Science channels. Joyce made and kept many, many friends in many countries.
