A dear father, husband, brother, and best friend Juan Hilario Hernandez at the age of 57 has left this world on April 24, 2020 and is blissfully in Heaven with God. After a silent unknown battle with stage 4 bladder cancer and various other medical issues he peacefully left this world so that he could watch over his family and all his dear friends pain free from Heaven. He now has joined his father and mother Antonio and Felicitias Hernandez, and his niece Victoria Tully and his grand niece Elizabeth Tully.
Juan was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Meacham Middle School and eventually Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School, where he gained an army of lifelong friends because of his charisma and contagious cheerfulness. He was not only blessed with a cheerful personality, handsome looks, and popularity but he was incredibly intelligent which is why graduated in the top 10 of his class. In high school, he was the definition of an over achiever he was the Vice President and President of Future Business Leaders of America, committee member of Emergency School Aid Act, Gold Eagle Award Recipient, Student Council Delegate, and Scholastic Achievement Award Recipient. Unlike most people he did not peak in high school he only blossomed more after he graduated in 1981. He went on to attend Tarrant County College to receive his associates degree. Attending Tarrant Country College, he not only gained his associates degree but the love of his life and future mother of his children. Throughout his academic career, he took on various odd jobs working paper routes, gas stations, and liquor stores. After high school, he went to work for various companies such as Microsoft, NTS, ADP, and finally he found his home at Tarrant County College as a Campus Support Technician for 21 years.
Juan truly loved his job at TCC because he was a people person and true servant of God. As a hardworking man, one job was not enough which is why he took up a second part time career as a Professional DJ. Through this career, he could truly shine in his element and spread joy and laughter through his love of music and celebration. He loved both his careers because they allowed him to serve and uplift the lives of his coworkers and clients. But his most important and fulfilling career, would be as a doting husband and loving father.
Juan first and foremost was a family man, he was an adoring husband and the proudest father in the world. He never wasted an opportunity to brag about what his children were up to and how dedicated and kind his wife was. Whenever you ran into him at the gym, work, or church he would always greet you with a big ol grin on his face and a joke ready to go just to brighten your day.
To say Juan Hernandez was a good man would be the world’s biggest understatements. He was so much more that, he was one of the most selfless, compassionate, and sacrificial husband, father, brother, and friend. There is no way his life could be summed up in just a few paragraphs because his true imprint on the world lives in the hearts and minds of all those who he crossed paths with. His whole life was spent serving those that he loved, those who needed help, those who wronged him, and everyone he came into contact with.
Juan was and will always be such an impactful person, the love and care he gave to his family he shared with everyone he came into contact with. He has truly touched the lives of so many and we are all pained from his loss. He was one of the most caring, sacrificial, and loving people on this earth.
Juan’s legacy lives on through his wife Carmen Hernandez, his son David Hernandez, and his daughter Rebecca Hernandez. He is survived by his siblings: Antonia Hernandez, Frank Hernandez, Florence Chamberlain, Magdalena Lewis, Ramona Hernandez, and Pete Hernandez.
Para mi Tio, con mucho cariño, de tú sobrina -Bridget
Tio had a smile as wide as a Texas horizon
He had a laugh that could carry you as long as a Texas mile
He had just the song to make la gente dance
He knew the perfect joke for each circumstance
He had feet that made him float on any dance floor
He knew how to pick the beat and keep them dancing for sure
He knew just how to pick the perfect spot to eat
He always found a deal so that we all had a treat
He was always the face to greet me off of the plane
He’d cart me around Texas and never complained
He never denied my request for musica por favor
He’d play that jam for me and suggest one more
He loved the Lord , his kids and he loved his chula
He worked hard for his family, providing all a man could’ve
He understood what it was to be a poor ol’ Mexican
His daddy taught him how to work and Tio rolled with the best of them
He was smart and articulate, he knew just the right words
He could be business and the barrio, Tio
knew both worlds
His presence and his wit will be terribly missed
He’s not here to hug so I blow a Texas sized kiss
He lived and he loved, he laughed at every chance
Al Rato mi Tio…I’ll save you the last dance
