After a long fight with cancer, Judi Thompson, 61, succumbed to her illness Saturday, April 6, 2013, surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 4350 River Oaks Blvd. in River Oaks. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the parlor of John Knox Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Judi was born December 2, 1951, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and emigrated with her family to California, where she met and married her husband, Larry. Together, they had two children, Jennifer and Jonathan. A resident of North Texas for the past 20 years, she was a well-loved member of her community, active in her local women’s group and an elder in her church. She was a graduate of the University of North Texas Health Science Center and worked for many years in cardiology and nephrology as a physician’s assistant. She loved theater, travel and spending time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who was taken by a drunken driver in 2010.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Lauren and Jonathan Christopher; mother, Eleanor Cornish of California; father, Jack Cornish of Oregon; sisters, Jacque Garcia and Janet Cornish; and brothers, Richard, Jim, Steven and David Cornish.
