Judith “Judy” Brooks York, 73, of Grand Prairie, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020. An Inurnment Graveside Service will be on Saturday June 13 2020, at 2:00 pm, Patillo Cemetery.
Judy was born on December 25, 1946 in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania to George and Lona Young. She received her Bachelor Of Science In Education degree from Bloomsburg State College Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania, in May of 1968, and earned 40 hours toward her Master’s degree.
During her lifetime, Judy worked as a Pocono Mountain Resort Hostess, a PA licensed Real Estate Broker, high school teacher, Adjunct Professor, a paralegal, and a Systems Security Analyst for Lockheed Martin. She was most proud of her time as the Executive Assistant to the late Lamar Hunt. Lamar was the principal founder of the American Football League (AFL) and Major League Soccer (MLS), and the founder and owner of the Kansas City Chiefs. In her spare time, Judy loved to evaluate products for Walmart.
Judy married Dale Hollingsworth on March 30, 1997. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a self-taught gourmet chef/cook whose cooking was enjoyed immensely by her family and friends.
Judy was passionate about crafting custom one of a kind costume jewelry for friends, family, casual acquaintances, and special people battling Cancer that she knew or just made contact with on social media. She thoroughly enjoyed buying and giving wigs and wraps, doing make-overs, and researching medical providers/trials for women and children battling cancer. She was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed playing the organ.
Judy is survived by her husband: Dale O Hollingsworth Jr., daughter: Jennifer Koehler, granddaughters: Abigail Velasquez and Mikayla Velasquez, stepson: Dale O Hollingsworth III and his wife Air and their two daughters Jasmine and Jada, stepdaughter: Laura Nicolle Cowger and her husband Matt and their two daughters Shelby and Hollie.
