Kason Andrew Brewer

Siblings, Kason and Amalie Brewer were tragically taken from this earth too soon in a car accident on March 26, 2022.

Kason Andrew Brewer, 24, was born October 21, 1997, to Kelly and Lindsey Brewer of Glen Rose, Texas. Kason graduated from Glen Rose High School in 2016, where he was an active member of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) for four years. He participated in Competitive Culinary Arts, where he competed at the state level with his team. Kason was also a member of the Glen Rose Tigers football team for three years.

While in High School, Kason began working at Riverhouse Grill as a sous-chef for Chef Milan Olejnik. Olejnik had a tremendous amount of influence on enhancing Kason’s culinary skills and advancing the natural talent he had in the kitchen. Kason also dabbled in construction and building for a short time before joining his family to open and operate their restaurant, Sugarbiscuits & Company, on the Square in Glen Rose. Kason took the lead role behind the scenes in the kitchen of Sugarbiscuits, from helping design and build the kitchen and menu, to preparing the food and working side by side with his family to create a successful business that he and his sister, Amalie, were to eventually take over. He also aspired to not only grow their business, but to enhance it by adding his own food truck someday.

Kason had a passion for fishing, even keeping his fishing poles in his car so he could slip off after work to his “secret” fishing spot. He also loved to buy old Ford Mustangs and work at rebuilding them.

Kason was often a man of few words, but when he did speak it was usually something funny or witty. His friends described him as “fiercely loyal” to all those he called friends. He was dependable, trustworthy, thoughtful, and always willing to go out of his way for others.  He was all of this and more to his best friend in this world, his sister. Kason and Amalie were connected at the hip, at work and in life.

Amalie Belle Brewer, 22, was born November 22, 1999. While attending school in Glen Rose, Texas, Amalie was active and excelled in Culinary, Dance, Choir, Drama, Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Pole Vaulting.  She loved spending time with her family and friends. She always loved music and singing and recently taught herself to play piano. She was Elvis’ biggest fan and always made others laugh with her imitations of him.

Amalie was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, at the young age of seven, in 2006. Being the fighter that she was, Amalie was able to beat ALL and return to school and become the active young lady she always was and worked to overcome any obstacles put in her way.

In 2012 Amalie found a new passion, Pole Vaulting. She trained and competed on a national level from 2012-2014, competing at four Junior Olympic Games, where she was ranked 8^th and 11^th in the nation in her age group.

In 2014, Amalie relapsed and had to begin treatments for Leukemia once again.

Once again, she beat it. She graduated in 2018 with honors, despite only attending in-class studies for 11 days.

In 2019, Amalie worked hand-in-hand with her family on their new adventure of opening Sugarbiscuits and Co. While Kason took charge in the back, Amalie was the face up front. Not just greeting customers with her beaming smile and bubbly personality but assisting with each and every step in building their dream. From design, décor, web design, menu decisions, managing employees to advertising and promotion, Amalie was a key player. Her main focus in life was her family and their business.

Kason and Amalie will be remembered for their love for others, their love for each other, and the bright light they shown on their friends and family.

Kason and Amalie are preceded in death by their loving “Nana Precious” (Maternal Grandmother) Debra Haynes.

They are survived by their parents, Kelly and Lindsey Brewer; older brother, Drannon Brewer and his wife, Abigale Mallery of Byhalia, MS; Honorary Grandfather, Bennie Nickell, of Glen Rose, TX; Grandparents, Tommy and Gail Brewer of Glen Rose, TX; Grandfather Robert Haynes, and wife Kathy, of Vero Beach, FL; Aunts & Uncles, Melanie and Wade Beard of Weatherford, TX; Logan and Nicki Haynes of Austin, TX; Toby and Stefanie Haynes of Baytown, TX; and Sam Haynes of Bandera, TX. They also leave behind numerous beloved extended family members.

Services for Kason and Amalie will be Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glen Rose High School Auditorium. Interment will follow at Squaw Creek Cemetery immediately following.
