Katharyn Hunter, 98, of Granbury, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020. Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, August 21, 2020, First Baptist Church, Granbury, Bedwell Chapel, Interment: Fairview Cemetery.
Katharyn was born on December 5, 1921 in McKinney, Texas to Samuel and Della Evans. She was one of thirteen children. She proudly served her country in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II, working as a truck driver.
In 1943, she married J. B. Hunter, Jr. They had three children who she loved dearly. She cherished the time she spent with them and her grandchildren.
Katharyn played hand bells in church and sang in the choir. She enjoyed square dancing and traveling. When she was in her 70’s, she went to college. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Katharyn is survived by her children: Lyn Tomlinson and her husband Ronnie, Mike Hunter and his wife Kit, and Mary Hunter, six grandchildren: Bryan Chapin and his wife Tina, Brett Tomlinson and his wife Heidi, Eric Tomlinson and wife Dévi, Matt Tomlinson, Sarah Maben and her husband Matt, and Susan Sebert and her husband Paul, and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Interim Hospice and The Courtyards staff for their loving, kind, and wonderful care.
Katharyn was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family.
