Lois Ruth McKenzie, 87, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, at a local care facility after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Lakeside, 8801 Jacksboro Highway, 817-237-8113. Entombment will be in Azleland Mausoleum. Friends may call until 6 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 100, Fort Worth, Texas 76102-7117.
Lois was born May 8, 1926, to Houston and Bertha Bolt in Wright County, Missouri. She graduated in 1944 from high school in Norwood, Missouri, and worked as a riveter building bombers for the duration of World War II. Lois came to Fort Worth on May 15, 1948, to marry H.L. McKenzie Jr.
Lois was a homemaker, raising their four children, Allan, Kathleen, Lowell and Michelle. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Lakeside. She enjoyed flower gardening, oil painting and traveling.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Norman, John and Frank.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, H.L. McKenzie Jr. of Azle; sister, Olive Deen of Camdenton, Missouri; sons, Allan and wife, Susie, of Morgan Hill, California, Lowell and companion, Kristen DeMarco, of Arlington; daughters, Kathleen McKenzie of Livingston, Michelle Brookshire and husband, Welton, of Huntington; grandchildren, Eyde McKenzie of Seattle, Washington, Jodi Barnum and husband, Eric, of San Jose, California, Ashlei Plonsky and husband, Brian, of Flagstaff, Arizona; and great-grandchildren, Maya, Miles, Ella Barnum, Oliver and Arlo Plonsky.
