Louis Elwyn Atchley, 87, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 .
Service: 10 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Northwest Church of Christ.
Interment: Parker Memorial Cemetery.
He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and uncle to his family. He was a member at Northwest Church of Christ and was a strong Christian example to all who knew him. He was born in Newlin, Texas on October 17, 1929. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served as a court reporter during the Korean War. He served in the Assault and Seizure of Inchon, Capture and Securing of Seoul, Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin Campaign and Operations against enemy forces in South and Central Korea. During his enlistment he was issued a Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation with one Star; Korean Service Medal with three Stars and Certificate of Satisfactory Service with no days lost. After his discharge he worked at Magnolia Oil for 18 years, Wayside Homes for 13 years, and retired at the age of 77 from TX Mail service.
Survivors: His wife of 64 years, Ernestine Roberts Atchley; daughters, LouAnn Dunsworth and husband, Kevin, Lori Duke and husband, Kevin, Lisa Blagg and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Jordan and Rachel Duke, Jeremy Dunsworth, Delaney, Elliott and Tucker Blagg; brother, Delane and wife, Jane Atchley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
