Margaret Jane Weddle, 95, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 12, 2018 at her home in Azle. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.
Margaret was born April 12, 1923 in Red River County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late, Alvora E. (Margraves) and Oscar Horace Nations. While in Red River Co., she met and married Alfred Weddle August 1, 1942. After the birth of their daughter, Jeanne, they moved to Azle in the early 50’s and joined Ash Creek Baptist church. Soon after, Margaret went to work for the Azle ISD as a 4th-grade teacher. When Walnut Creek Elementary opened in 1955, she was the first teacher transferred to that school and taught the 4th- grade for 30 years. She also taught a ladies bible class at Ash Creek Baptist church called the Ruth Class. She helped to found the class over 50 years ago and taught if for as long. Margaret retired in the mid 80’s from the Azle ISD having taught a total of 33 years. Shortly after retirement, she opened Grandma’s Emporium in 1987 and worked until 2016, finally retiring. Margaret loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening and birdwatching in her spare time. For the past five years, Margaret was a member of the Gospel Gathering Fellowship in Azle where her nephew currently pastors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred in 2001.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Wright; brother, B D Nations and wife, Pat; sister, Imogene Guest; grandson, Michael Scott Wright and wife, Angela, granddaughter, Wendy Lane and husband, Donald; great-grandchildren, Chad, Jenna, Faith and Mandi Lane, and Reese and Ryan Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
