GRANBURY — Mary E. Whitehead, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, in Granbury.
Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wiley Funeral Home. Interment: 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Charity of choice.
Mary was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Cypress, Ill., to Wilson and Beulah Griggs Spraggs. She married Ray Whitehead on July 19, 1941 in Missouri. She loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on May 1, 2004; a brother; a sister; and a loving daughter-in-law, Lenora Jean Whitehead.
Survivors: Children, Gloria Jean Whitehead, Charles R. Whitehead, Judith C. Clary, Lela L. Whitehead, Mary T. Whitehead, Dennis W. Whitehead; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchiildren; sisters, Phyllis Overton, Flo Hughes and Betty McClintock; brother, Eugene Spraggs; and several nieces and nephews.
