Janie Keim Lackey, of Granbury, Texas passed away on November 3, 2022 surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She was born January 27, 1936 in Spearman, Texas to Dillard and Vonda (Sheets) Keim. Janie graduated from Spearman High School in 1954. She married Major Wesley Lackey Jr. in Pierre, South Dakota on June 16, 1954.
Janie and Wesley were blessed with three children that Janie spent her life raising and caring for. She kept her children active in 4H and FFA. Janie was always a willing participant in the many adventures that her family undertook. She wore many hats and was a great organizer. Janie selflessly gave her time by being a secretary for many Little Britches Rodeos, ranch rodeos, and other activities.
Janie worked for Jones County Extension Office for many years as Secretary after moving to Anson, TX in 1980 and she retired in 1996. She spent her retirement making beautiful quilts as she was a very accomplished seamstress. Janie and Wesley moved to Granbury in 2007. They were members of the Triple Cross Cowboy Church.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, sister Virginia Pauline Keim, sister Patricia Ann Keim, and brother J.R. Keim. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Wesley, a daughter Shari Lackey, a son Major W. Lackey III (Mike) and his partner Les Lujan, and a daughter Pamela Joyce and her husband Patrick and two grandchildren Nicholas Joyce and Alyssa Joyce. She was an aunt to many, all of whom she cherished. The family is grateful to Visiting Angels of Granbury, Granbury Care Center, and Interim Hospice Care Services for their services.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury, Texas.
