Mary Kathryn Jepsen known to family and friends as Karen, passed away August 26th
surrounded by those she loved. She often referred to her life as a journey, and she made it
wonderful.
The journey began February 4, 1931 in Altus Oklahoma. Born to Mildred (Moore) Tinney and
Roy Tinney Sr, she had three siblings Roy Tinney Jr, Maxine Kaiser and Patricia Vinson. Altus
was just the beginning for Karen.
In 1955 she moved to Texas working at Amarillo Air Force base as a photographer and began
her pursuit of family, travel and adventure. Trans World Airlines offered Karen the perfect
runway for her flight as she began her lifelong career as a ticket agent and Scheduled Airline
Traffic Office Liaison helping military members travel around the world. Her career provided
years of new experiences travelling world wide as well as residing in New York, Albuquerque,
Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and finally retirement in Granbury.
During the last part of her journey, Karen had the pleasure of spending many wonderful years
with Bruce Glatzel. Together they were able to enjoy love, companionship, adventures, travel,
cruises, and lots of time with family and friends.
Karen is survived by her daughter Kathy Goldman of Orange County, CA, daughter Rona
Shoopack and husband Jay Shoopack of Nowata, OK, son Rick Durmon of Granbury, TX,
brother Roy Tinney Jr of Mangum, OK, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Kenny Osborn and sisters Maxine Kaiser and Pat
Vinson.
Visitation for Karen will be held at Wiley Funeral Home on Monday, September 3rd from 4pm to
6pm. Services will be held at the “Little White Chapel” Acton United Methodist Church 3433 Fall
Creek Hwy in Acton on Tuesday, September 4th at 10am.
