Mary Nell Doggett Sirmon, 89, passed away October 14, 2022 in New Braunfels, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 6pm-8pm at Martin’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 11am at Holly Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.
Mary was born December 9, 1932 in Elgin, Oklahoma to George and Nellie Doggett. Mary was always ready to give you a big smile and her eyes sparkled with Joy. Mary was devoted to her husband of 50 years and her children. Mary and Monte married February 3, 1951 in Quanah, Texas. Mary enjoyed painting and joined the art community when she and Monte moved to Granbury. Mary enjoyed painting in oils, acrylics, water colors, mixed media, and working with stained glass. She had won many awards in show around the area, in Port Aransas and Abilene, Texas. Mary was a Rainbow girl then later moved into Eastern Star as an adult. She was also a member of Acton United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, Lake Granbury Art Association, and the Fort Worth Watercolor Society.
Mary was preceded in death by husband: Monte Harrell Sirmon; parents: George Milton Doggett and Nellie Ruth Rushing Doggett; sisters: Martha Doggett Runyan, Helen Doggett Conoly, and Peggy Doggett Gossett.
Mary is survived by daughter: Shelle Sirmon Stautzenberger of New Braunfels, Texas; son: Monte H. Sirmon Jr. of Port Aransas, Texas; daughter: Marsha Ann Sirmon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandson: Gerald Ray Stautzenberger and wife Tina of New Braunfels; Great grandson: Maxwell Stautzenberger of New Braunfels, and Alex Stautzenberger and wife of Germany; sister: Betty Ruth Doggett Johnston; brother: George M. Doggett; sister in law: Linda Sirmon Boyd and husband Basil; and many nieces and nephews.
