Melrie Gibson Schoessow, 93, passed away on Saturday; September 19, 2020 in Glen Rose.
She was born January 18, 1927 in Teague, Texas to William Roy and Ora Belle McLeod Gibson.
Melrie and Rudolph Schoessow, who was from Wisconsin met at a drugstore soda shop in Teague where Melrie was working during the time he was serving in the U. S. Army. They married March 14, 1944 in Teague.
Melrie, or Granny as she was well known, was a member of the Rainbow Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her family dearly as well as all the people she was always trying to feed.
Granny also had a great love for the Brazos River and she liked going swimming. She was also a very good cook.
She is survived by her sons, Roy Glenn and Linda Schoessow of Glen Rose, Mark Alan and Mary Schoessow of Granbury and Robert Brett and Glenda Schoessow of Gordon; granny had twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph P. Schoessow in 2003 and by a son, Rudolf Louis Schoessow in 2010.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to the staff of Glen Rose Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to the Solaris Hospice nurses and staff.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM. on Tuesday; September 22, 2020 at Martins Funeral Home in Granbury with viewing and visitation from 1pm. to 2pm. prior to service. Burial next to her husband will be held on Wednesday at Union Cemetery in Teague, TX.
