Mel Allen was born in Bridgeport Texas on March 2nd, 1943. He graduated from Perrin High School in 1961 where he met and married his lifetime best friend and sweetheart Mary Jo Patton. They started their family in Whitt Texas. They had their 3 girls and started their clothing manufacturing company named Bravo Fashions that allowed them to put their girls through college and continued to grow for the next 22 years. He is preceded in death by parents Leonard and Dovie Allen.
Surviving family members are his daughters, Dana Guinn, husband Tony, Kristi Holt, husband Billy, and Tammy Foreman husband David.
Grandchildren: Jared Holt, wife Alecia, Jadyn Massie, husband Dalton, Trent Guinn, Chelsea Foreman Warlow, husband Ben, and Noah Foreman. His great granddaughters, Sloan, and Logan Holt.
Sister, Ann Moore, Brother-in-law Mark Patton, wife Cynthia, Sister-in-law Janna Brimer, husband Kim and many precious nieces and nephews.
Mel had worked at Texboro Cabinet Factory Mineral Wells, General Dynamic Fort Worth, and Bell Helicopter Fort Worth. Mel owned and ran Bravo Fashions with wife Mary Jo for 22 years
They went on to become the managers of Fox Run Retirement Living Facility for 5 years and finally made their home here in Granbury as managers of multiple storage facilities owned by Access Strategic LLC. Mel was a dedicated member of Wapels Baptists church and served on their safety team providing security until the day of his death. He was a Licensed Cessna Pilot, and a Certified Professional golf instructor by Federation of Golf Instructors. His lifetime hobbies were golfing, fishing, and attending 100’s of hours at any sport activity possible that his kids, grandkids and even great grandkids were playing.
Mel and Mary Jo were happily married for 60 loving amazing years, his legacy of love will forever live. Mel’s advice for the secret to a happy marriage “Pick the right one”. We all know that is what he did.
Mel passed in the comfort of his home surrounded and cared for by his wife, daughters and his best buddy Hoopas his cat.
