Miguel LaFontaine was born on September 28, 1925, in Utuado, Puerto Rico and passed away from this life at the age of 95 on June 20, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s in Ft. Worth Texas.

He grew up in small rural community with his brothers and joined the Army after high school where he served his country proudly. After he left the Army, he then joined the Merchant Marines where he served for many years. After retiring from the Merchant Marines, he settled in New Orleans where he started his own business that he ran successfully until his retirement in 2006.
Miguel was married twice and had six children. He was a hardworking man with a strong, loving, and gentle soul. One of his favorite pastimes was telling stories of his family and favorite adventures. He loved his family, his country, his beloved birthplace of Puerto Rico, and was deeply devoted to his wife Lidia LaFontaine for fifty-one years. After retiring in Ft. Worth, Miguel spent his time gardening, traveling, and visiting family.
Miguel was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister, and his son, Rene LaFontaine.
He is survived by his wife, Lidia LaFontaine; three his sons, Miguel Ivan and wife, Ines LaFontaine, Eric Milton and wife, Gloria LaFontaine, Jose and wife, Lise LaFontaine; two daughters, Michelle LaFontaine-Smith and husband, Edwin and Arlyn LaFontaine; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other close family members and friends.
