Mollie Jean (Conner) Schulze, 90, of Granbury passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. A viewing will be held from 12 noon – 6 pm, Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury with family receiving friends from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. A private family graveside service will be held in Bee House on Monday.
Mollie was born on October 25, 1929 in Bee House, Texas to Sherman and Lela
Conner. She was educated in a one room schoolhouse by a teacher who lived with her family and became a life-long friend. She later graduated from Evant High School and went on to Tarleton College where she met her future husband.
Mollie married James “Jim” Lee Schulze on February 1, 1948 in Bee House, which consisted of a one room church, a tabernacle, a one room school, and a combination home, post office and general store next door. After marriage and school, Jim and Mollie moved to Erie, PA for a short time until moving to Louisville, KY.
Mollie was the secretary at the Baptist Board of Childcare in Louisville where she worked in support of children and families in need. After raising her family in Louisville, she and Jim retired to Granbury in 1988 where they became active members of Southside Baptist Church. They were married for almost 73 years.
Mollie loved people and conversation. She measured her success by her relationships and her friends were friends for life. She took great joy in raising her children and later spending time with their families.
Mollie was preceded in death by her parents, eldest son: James Lee Schulze, Jr., sister: Verona Perkins and brother-in-law: Doyle Perkins, brother: Kenneth Conner and wife Fritz Conner- Green, and nephew: Robert Doyle Perkins and wife Linda and their children Cindy and Kristie.
Mollie is survived by her husband James L. Schulze, Sr., children: Dr. Keith Schulze and wife Denise of Silverdale, Washington, Dr. Gene Schulze and wife Michelle of Yardley, Pennsylvania, daughter-in-law: Linda Schulze of Indianapolis, Indiana, grandchildren: Tamara Schulze, Angela Banks and husband Andrew, Gwendolyn Smith and husband Steve, Robert Schulze, Maressa Schulze, great-grandchildren: Christian Banks, Isaac Banks, and soon expected arrival of her namesake Mollie Jean Smith, and niece: June Perkins of Granbury.
