Nadine Gee Livesay, a beloved wife, mother, family member and friend, passed away Aug. 3, 2022.
Nadine was born April 7,1927 in Granbury, Texas, to Mack and Bessie Gee. She grew up in Granbury, where she enjoyed life on the farm with her seven brothers and sisters. The farm they owned next to the Brazos River is now covered by Lake Granbury.
She went to college at North Texas Teachers College (now the University of North Texas), earning a degree in teaching. She taught Home Economics, and later in her career, she specialized teaching children with special needs. She taught in Fort Worth and Albuquerque.
Nadine married the love of her life, Jess Livesay, in1955. Jess had business and engineering degrees from TCU. He worked for General Dynamics for several years before relocating to Albuquerque. Later, he opened his own consulting firm. They were married for nearly 60 years.
A love for tennis was something that ran in the family, and many say Nadine and Jess created a tennis dynasty. Several members of her family earn their living as tennis pros, instructors, and coaches, including her daughter Suzanne Merritt, daughter Laurie Sheehy, and Laurie’s husband Jack and their son Joshua. Her keen interest in tennis never waned. When she was living at Brookdale during the last three years of her life, she was known for carrying her iPad with her everywhere she went. You could bet if there was a tennis tournament on anywhere in the world, she was tuned in. She was beloved at Brookdale, where she made many friends, served as an ambassador to other residents and loved playing games, including Bingo and 42.
Nadine and Jess not only shared their love for competitive games with their family; they also shared their deep and abiding faith. Nadine often taught Bible study, and she and Jess loved Christian music, prayer and fellowship.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at Granbury Cemetery. A reception honoring Nadine will be held from 2:30-4:30pm at Brookdale Pecan Park, 915 Fielder, Arlington, Texas (building 2), second building on the right, upstairs.
Nadine is survived by her daughter Suzanne Merritt and husband Ed; Son Jay Livesay and wife Kathy; daughter Laurie Sheehy and husband Jack; grandchildren Jessica and Alex LaRue; Jacob Merritt; Jesselyn and Billy Lucero; Hannah Livesay; Jason Livesay; Micah and Caleb Roy; Joshua Sheehy; and Jonathan Sheehy; great-grandchildren Elliot and Oliver LaRue. She is also survived by her precious dog, Annie, who lives with Laurie. She was preceded in death by her husband Jess, and her 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
She will be missed by all.
