Nicholas “Mims” Wayne Nick

Nicholas (Nick) Wayne Mims, 40, of Fort Worth, passed away on January 2, 2020 at his parents’ home on Lake Granbury after a long struggle with decades of countless hip replacements, surgeries, operations, and recoveries. His body gave up on him, but he never gave up on his family or friends, as he was always loyal and dedicated to those he held near. Nick was born as “Twin B” on March 27, 1979 in Fort Worth. Nick loved riding his bike with friends around the Handley area as a child, building forts, and escaping to worlds he created with his vivid imagination. A member of the Texas Boys Choir and Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir, Nick was able to use his musical talents and tour with both choirs in middle and high school. Nick loved working backstage in theater and was actively involved at Eastern Hills High School, Tarrant County College, Texas Wesleyan University, and also volunteered with sets and makeup at haunted houses, as he always loved giving people a good scare. His wicked sense of humor and political satire always had a way of making people laugh. He was known for his warm smile, kind and compassionate spirit. Always wanting to take care of other people and give them the best life he could, he was honored to graduate with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy working at Texas Wesleyan University Community Counseling Center. He was excited and proud to become an Uncle and spoil his niece and nephew any chance he had. You could always find Nick with a Snapple Peach Tea in one hand and a cigarette in the other while he spent every Sunday in Granbury to have brunch with his parents. Preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Nona Mims, Daniel and Mary Lois Garvin, and by Loki, his Great Dane companion of 7 years. Leaving Earth too soon from his father Wayne Mims, mother Karla Mims, twin-brother Kyle Mims and wife Amy Hunt, niece Lorelei Ryder Mims, nephew Rhys Ewan Mims, Beloved cousin Danette Adelson and husband Gene, ‘Sugar Bear’ Aunt Kyna Eldred and husband John, ‘Buddie’ Aunt Karen Stanifer, ‘Honey’ Aunt Barbara Baird, his other MOMS Nelda, Darlene, Gloria, Jerry, Karen, Linda, Susan, cousins Brian Brown, Derrick Stanifer, and Max Eldred, and his loving four-legged friend, Daisy.
