TOLAR — Norman G. Cherry, 72, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Burial: Asbury Cemetery in Hood County. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Cherry was born July 6, 1939, in Tolar, to William Bowman Cherry and Julia Adline Chapman Cherry. He was a resident of Tolar and Hood County all his life. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. Norman worked as a surveyor and was a member of the Cedar Point Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his father, a sister, Martha G. Steinburger, and a niece, Judy L. Strickland.
Survivors: Sons, Nathan B. Cherry and wife, Sherri, of Tolar, James C. Cherry and wife, Page, of Virginia; daughters, Christina Cherry Hutchison of Tolar, Karan Cherry Stokes and husband, David, of Tolar, Julia Ilene Cherry Hlavenka of Pinehurst, Texas; mother, Julia A. Cherry of Tolar; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Velma Cole and husband, Max, of Tolar, Neila Norris of Tolar; and several nieces and nephews.
