Patricia was born January 21, 1929 in Fort Worth to Robert Thomas and Cassie Jernigan Cardwell. She attended Fort Worth schools and graduated from Polytechnic High School. She married Reagan A. Haygood. They reared three children in Fort Worth, before moving to Granbury in 1984. As a young mother, Pat was involved in church life and her children’s scouting programs. She served as President of the local PTA (Pre-school). She was a member of First Christian Church of Granbury; where she served in local and area leadership for the Disciple Women (CWF). As Coordinator of Area CWF Board, her team created a CWF Fall Retreat in Athens, Texas. She served as Board Moderator and in Ministries work in the Christian Church in Fort Worth and Granbury and was an Elder Emeritus. After moving to De Cordova, she was an organizing member of the De Cordova Women’s Club and was active in several heritage societies. Pat was a Past Regent of the Elizabeth Crockett Chapter NSDAR, continuing as an Honorary Regent. She was an organizing member of the Heart of Texas Regents Council. She held office in the Fort Worth Area Regents Club; NSColonial Dames XVII Century; NSDaughters of American Colonists, and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her ancestral line was proven through Edward I of England back to Charlemagne. In later years she was an office volunteer for LGMC Senior Circle program and enjoyed every minute of that time. At age 86, she moved to Watrerview Senior Living and became active in that community, serving on the Resident Council.
She loved her family dearly, treasured her friends and enjoyed games and traveling the world where she felt privileged to have seen fascinating places on five continents. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her only brother: Thomas Cardwell, son-in-law: D.R. Boyd and her beloved Reagan.
SURVIVORS: Children: Anne (Don) Simms, Sheila (Peter) Bradley and R.A. Haygood, Jr., Grandchildren: Michelle Boyd, Nicolle(Kevin) Weseman, Travis (Ilka)Young, Preston Young, Eric, Justin and Matthew Haygood, Great-grandchildren, Boyd Weseman; Josiah, Ezekiel, Abigail, Noah and Obadiah Young; Lilly, Drew and Isabella Haygood. Niece, Heather Cardwell Graeff and nephew, Ron (Anne) Haygood and their families.
Pat looked on life as a series of new adventures and has now gone on to her Greatest Adventure.
