Peggy D. Harkins, 87, of Tolar passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020. Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2020, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Lie in State: 1:00 PM -7:00 PM, Friday, August 21, 2020, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, with family greeting friends from 6:00 PM -7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment: Post Oak Cemetery.
Peggy was born on October 8, 1932 in Cleburne, Texas to John and Carrie Mitchell. She married L.R. Harkins on March 1, 1947 in Glen Rose, Texas. She was always supportive of her family and she loved to listen to Larry’s band play.
Peggy was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Hill City, Texas. Church was really important to her and she was an avid studier of the Bible.
Peggy loved reading mysteries and westerns, travelling, vegetable gardening, and singing. She was an excellent seamstress and she never said an unkind word to anyone or about anyone. She was preceded in death by her husband: L.R. “Tots” Harkins, and son: William Harkins.
Peggy is survived by her children: Paul Harkins and his wife Kaye, Brenda Stewart and her husband Buster, Vicky Pearce and her friend Marty Silva, and Larry Harkins and his wife Tonya Gayle, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, siblings: Weldon Mitchell and his wife Mary, James Mitchell, Tresina Downs, and Valdeana Myer and her husband Jim.
