R.V. “Rue” Derrick Jr., 96, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Memorial service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 3, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Granbury First United Methodist Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
R.V. was born on May 30, 1921 in Weatherford, Texas to Rue and Lucille Derrick. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Willys Raesener on November 12, 1942 in Castell, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1962. He later married Ruby Dobbs on June 12, 1963 in Hillsboro, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 15, 2006.
He was a civil engineer for the City of Dallas in the utility department. He was also city manager for Llano, Hillsboro, Kilgore and New Braunfels. He taught at Tarleton University and was a member of Granbury First United Methodist Church. He was a Master Gardener and loved fishing. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son, Ronnie Derrick and daughter-in-law, Cindi Derrick.
R.V. is survived by his daughter: Karolyn Lucas and husband Kenneth, stepdaughter: Carolyn Mouck and husband Steve, stepson: Ken Mash and wife Linda, grandchildren: Kreg Inman and wife Toni, Kristi Walker, Chelsa Derrick, Allison Holbrook and husband Chad, Jeff Mouck and wife Jess, Derrick Boyd and wife Meggan, 12 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sister: Jean Derrick Hoffman, nephews: Paul Hoffman and Clark Hoffman and numerous nieces and nephews.
