Raymond C. Sherrell

Raymond Charles Sherrell passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on March 9, 2022. Service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10am at Martin’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 9am until service time. Interment will be at Holly Hills Memorial Park.

He was born on October 10^th, 1939 in Dallas, Texas. He married his best friend and fishing buddy, Carleen Basham on April 28, 1990 in Lipan, Texas. He was loved by his family, friends, and church family (First Baptist Church of Thorp Spring). Ray’s hobbies were fishing, camping, hiking, sailing, visiting National and State Parks, and reading. He worked as a contract programmer for 25 years. He enjoyed working with the men at FBCTS building handicap ramps. He loved working the food distribution every Tuesday at FBCTS.

Ray was preceded in death by: parents: Arvil and Mary Sherrell; brother: Robert George “Smiley” Sherrell, Richard Joe Sherrell: sister: Kathleen Dule Butler; brother-in-law: Jerry Butler.

Roy is survived by his wife: Carlene; son: Keith Sherrell and wife Brenda; daughter: Michelle Nye and husband Scott; step son: Matthew Basham; step daughter: Aimee Basham; grandchildren: Nick Nye and wife Yari, Josh Nye and wife Maggie, Britt Sherrell, Taylor Sherrell, Talis Basham; three great grandchildren.
