Dick was born on August 6, 1941 to Fred and Johnnie Jo Braun. He met Sue Dandridge at church camp when he was seventeen and she was eighteen. They married on November 25, 1960 at Central Lutheran in Dallas. They had two children, Suzanne and Angela.
Dick owned his own medical supply business but owning his own ranch was his dream. He loved riding horses and feeding cows. Dick came from a long family line of German Lutheran traditions including love of land and ranching so he retired to Bluff Dale and bought a ranch. Sue required a place with a view so it was a perfect match.
In 1989 Dick had a heart transplant; he was the oldest living transplant survivor in the U.S. He lived his life to the fullest after surgery and wanted his donor’s life to be honored through his life. He loved helping people any way he could. Dick was an outgoing, natural people person. He was the nicest man and enjoyed every one he ever met.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother Robert A. Braun.
