Richard Dale Bumpass

Richard Dale Bumpass was born on September 19, 1946 in Bryan, TX, to Charles Maynard and Mary Patricia Bumpass. Richard passed away peacefully on January 1, 2018 at Lake Granbury Medical Center surrounded by friends and family. He was 71 years old.
Richard joined the United States Marines straight out of high school and graduated from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, TX, where he met his wife of 47 years, Susan Kirschbaum Bumpass.
Richard and Susan were married August 29, 1970 in Colorado City, TX. In the coming years, Richard and Susan had one daughter, Emily, who was born on November 2, 1979. Richard was a top sales leader for multiple companies in Dallas, as well as, an extremely talented pen and ink freelance artist.
Richard moved his family to Granbury, TX in 1989. He was an entrepreneur, owning Kountry Cleaners for 18 years and then transitioning to a retiree/commercial real estate owner in 2007.
Richard was a devoted and kind husband, caring for his wife over the past twenty years during her on-going battles with health issues and has been her rock since the day they met. Richard and his daughter, Emily, were best friends and Richard was the most dedicated G-Pa to his grandkids, Jack and Charlie. Richard was an extremely hard working man with a giving spirit, who would often lend a hand to those in need.
Richard’s favorite activities included golf, his dog Cross and most importantly, loving and providing for his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Susan, his daughter Emily and two grandchildren, Jack Richard and Charles Katherine of Granbury TX, and one brother David Maynard Bumpass of Tulsa, OK.
A memorial service will be held in his honor, Sunday, January 7 at 2:30 PM at Stonewater Church, 911 E. Hwy 377, Granbury, TX.
