Richard was born Oct. 1, 1956 in Kingsville. He was a farmer and a member of the American Legion Granbury Post. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edgar Mitchell, Jr. and Nancy Jane Sanders Mitchell.

Survivors: Wife, Patricia Mitchell of Montana; daughters, Alison Mitchell of Montana and Suzanne Johnson; grandchild, Kyli; sisters, Christina Mitchell of Granbury and Melanie Chambers of Louisiana; step-daughters, Brandy Gray of San Antonio and Kameron of San Angelo; nephew, Sean Mitchell of El Paso.
