Bob was born November 28, 1927, to Hoyt A. and Maye G. Blaylock in St. Francis County, Arkansas. Bob grew up as a self-described “nature boy,” often saving his money to buy ammunition or fishing supplies to spend time in the neighboring woods hunting and fishing. As World War II drew to a close, Bob became old enough for military service and trained as a medic with the U.S. Army. Following his military service, Bob graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute and began a career in the petroleum processing and refining industry. During his career, he served as a chemist and facility manager for such recognized brands as Gulf Oil and Chevron. Even following retirement, Bob was not one to “take it easy;” he remained active in his church and community until very recently when his health no longer allowed. His Christian faith was vibrant and foundational and was evidenced in every conversation or phone call.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife and life partner of over five decades, Wylodene (Dene) Brown Blaylock, his son Robert Dale (Bobby) Blaylock, Jr., his parents, and one sister, Bonnie Sue.
Bob is survived by his daughter Patti Hay, and her husband Steve, of Sedona, Arizona, as well as by many nieces and nephews, and a loving church family and community. Notable “honorary family members” are Jerry and Beverly Lindsey, who provided much companionship and friendship to both Bob and Dene, and to whom the family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation.
