Robert Jackson passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at a Fort Worth assisted living center at peace with his decisions after being visited by many dear friends and family during the last several days.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Cisco.
He was born in Albany, Texas, to Gene and Elsie Jackson in 1934. He was a welcome addition to the family even during the lean years of the Depression. The family moved to Cisco in 1937 and he graduated from Cisco High School in 1952. He was a gifted athlete and was highly recruited even with an average team record. With NCAA rule changes, he only played one year as a freshman at Baylor but went on to Howard Payne where he teamed up with his high school teammate, Doug Johnson, for a great 1954 season. The team only lost one game and that was under questionable calls. The team still meets annually to recall that year.
Robert became a coach in Midland after serving in the Army for two years in Germany. Although he loved coaching and education, he entered the world of finance with E F Hutton in 1968. He recalls nothing but good times from his time in Midland.
After 10 years as an employee, Robert started his own firm, Texas Securities, in March 1978 with his partner Jim Rhodes. It was an exciting time for Robert but he retired from the active full-time position as president in 1992. He remained active in the financial industry as a consultant until his death.
Robert is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon Jackson; stepdaughters, Melody and Anna; grandchildren, Madison Tate, Savannah and Peyton Cox, all of Fort Worth; brother, Ed Jackson of Garland; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
