Robert Bogardus Lomerson, Sr., 88, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on October 18, 2017 in Plano, Texas.
The family will receive friends in memory of Robert at their daughter’s Eagle Mountain Lake home on Boat Club Rd. on Sunday afternoon, October 22 from 1 to 6 p.m.
Mr. Lomerson was born on September 11, 1929 in Jersey City, N.J., the son of the late, Edwin O. Lomerson, Sr. and Margaret P. McDowell Lomerson. A 1953 graduate of the University of Texas (Austin) with a BS degree in Geology, Mr. Lomerson was an advanced development engineer with a diverse technical background. He made significant contributions to both private industry and the US government during his fifty year career, also holding US and foreign patents. He greatly enjoyed the engineering creativity of his latest employment at Lockheed Corporation, retiring in 1993. Bob met the Love of his life, Shirley, in July, 1956, married soon thereafter, and were together for the next 60 years. During that time, they raised 5 children in Texas, including several adventurous years sailing while living aboard their thirty-four foot catamaran on the Atlantic Coast from Maine to Key West, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Walrond Lomerson; brother, Edwin O. Lomerson, Jr. of Glastonbury, CT.; sons; Robert B. Lomerson, Jr., Richard W. Lomerson, David T. Lomerson, James S. Lomerson; daughters; Karen Lomerson Veltre, Ava Bradley, Dawn Mason, all of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Evyn, Eric, Ariana, Todd, Ty, Nash, Jimmy, Alyssa, Justin, Jake, Karly, Gray; and great-grandchildren, Trey, Ellie, Calli, and Preston.
