GRANBURY –
Robert Miles Ling, 81, passed away Sunday April 20, 2014 in a nursing home in Granbury, TX.

Robert married Ruth Collett on June 3, 1961 in Dallas, TX, he was a fireman for the City of Irving for six years and a U.S. Postal employee until his retirement in 1989. In 1992 they moved to Granbury, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles H. and Genevieve Pletcher Ling; sister, Donna Drown; nephew, Mark Drown and a great great niece.
Mr. Ling was a candidate for City Council in Irving, TX in 1968 and a Mayoral candidate in 1971, prior to moving to Granbury. In 1998 he was a candidate for Hood County Commissioner.
He spent three years in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors: wife, Ruth Ellen Ling; son, Robert Thomas Ling and wife Wendy; grandchildren, Shannon Ling, Caitlin Ling, Allejandra Flitcher and great grandson, Jaden; sister, Louise Brown and husband Ray; Genevieve Stevens and Marilyn Herbert; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Maddock, Wendy Herbert, Clint Herbert and wife Lisa, Lorie Grant and husband Robert, Patty Grant and husband Ronald, Patrick Stevens, Dawn, Richard King and wife Chairis, Pamela Flippen and Terry Edwards and husband Kenneth; brothers-in-law, Robert Lewis Collett and Harold Drown; many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
