Roger Jordan

Roger Duane Jordan, 78, of Glen Rose, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Memorial service: 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2019, Glenview Church of Christ, Glen Rose.
Roger was born on August 13, 1940 to Isum and Nova Jordan. He is survived by two sisters: Jan Mears and Wanda Kitchens, one brother-in-law: Walter Mears, nephews: Ray Mears, and Mike Jordan, nieces: Nina, Pam, Tammy, and Tonya, and adopted brother: Sam Garcia and family.
Roger was a happy man and met everyone with a big smile and a Hey! Hey!
Most important thing he was a Christian all or most of his life.
At two years old he took Polio and spent 19 years in and out of the hospital in Galveston, there he had 11 surgeries and one of those was to make him a foot he could use.
Roger went to Kilgor College and got a degree in watch making and jewelry repair. Two years was enough for him, he wanted to try something else. Welding yes for about 11 years of that and he was bored, so he learned how and drove bulldozers as big as they could make them for B.F. I. Industries, laying out landfills for the State of Texas, that’s where he worked until he had to retire because of Post Polio Syndrome.
Roger loved his guitar and country music and bluegrass.
Roger had a deep love for The Lord and if you were around him very much you knew it.
He once was asked why he kept going to church and why he didn’t get out and have a good time. He told one of them, Well it’s like this when you look at me you see a crippled up old man, but when I die I’m going to walk through those pearly gates of Heaven on a brand new pair of legs, How about that.
Well that was Roger, from Wanda or Skeeter as he liked to call me, he was a great big brother, the best example a sister could have. He taught me to love others and patience and how to do things if you couldn’t use your legs.
Roger used to say problems are what you make and you have to solve them yourself and most if not all of the answers are found in the Bible.
Things I remember are helping get Roger to school, I pushed the wagon and Jan pulled, but we got him there and back home.
In the summer time, Roger liked to shine shoes for money. What he made he brought home to mother and told her to pay the bills with it. She put it up and spent it on him when he needed something. I don’t think he ever knew it. He just wanted to help.
Roger was preceded in death by his Dad and Mother, one adopted brother: Lonnie Jordan, and two brothers: Tony Jordan and Tim Jordan.
He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by all.
