Roger Paul Riggs, 71, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in Granbury, Texas. Celebration of Life: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Lipan Community Center, Lipan, Texas. We will also hold a service in June in Arizona date TBD.
Roger was born on January 3, 1946 to Paul and Julia Riggs. He was a cattle rancher, cowboy, bareback bronc rider, team roper and loved horses and cattle. Roger received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona. He loved to play music. While in college he would play with a band for fun and a little spending money. His favorite music was country music and old time jazz.
Roger loved his grandchildren. He was caring, loving, and a big hearted friend to all. Gardening and cooking BBQ ribs were two of his favorite things to do when he could no longer rope. His friends in Lipan helped him get rid of his excess produce. He enjoyed reading. He was a big baseball fan, a catcher and he knew the game well.
Roger is survived by his wife: Linda Riggs, children: Jody Collup, Jeff Collup and wife Kelly, Jay Collup and wife Bridgett, and Lavita Petersen and Mark Smith, and seven grandchildren.
