GRANBURY — Roscoe Freelan Mabery died Dec. 7, 2014, at Universal Health Care Center in Fort Worth. He was 94.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, in Granbury at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial: Nubbin Ridge Cemetery in Mambrino. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Freelan was born, Nov. 23, 1920, the oldest of the eight children of Roscoe and Myrl Mabery. He married his childhood sweetheart, Ola Dorris Kinnard in 1940. In 1944 they bought a farm in Acton, where they raised three daughters and Freelan was active in the community and the Acton Methodist Church. He had a variety of occupations in his long life: farmer and rancher, construction worker, owner of rental real estate, and private business owner of The Curiosity Shop. In 2009, he moved to Keller to be near his daughters. Freelan loved music, gardening, reading, and he loved his family. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ola Dorris; brothers, Tiny and Bud Mabery; sisters, Dorothy Shannon and Doris Hayworth.
Survivors: Daughters, Darla Hill and husband, Jim, of Rowlett; Sherry Vandever and husband, Jerry, of Keller; Dixie Marks, and husband, Warren, of Keller; grandchildren, Tanya, Julie, Heather, and Brent; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Luke, and Joel, Maddie, and Ashley.
