Roy “Doug” Douglas Vinson, 70, of Fort Worth, Texas, succumbed to illness January 4, 2022.
Visitation: 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Biggers Funeral Home.
Private Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
Doug was born August 16, 1951 and was raised in Grand Prairie, Texas since the age of 5.
He joined the Army in 1968 and served as a machine gunner in Vietnam with the 1st battalion, 7th Calvary Company C and for better names described as the “Flying Circus”. The “Flying Circus” was best known for its “scouts’ section but the circus also flew command and control, ash and trash, medivac and anything else the 1st Brigade needed at any given time”. Doug returned home from Vietnam in 1970.
Doug was an avid golfer who never declined a round with friends, family and even strangers. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, gardening and spent most his life with careers in architectural design, notably West End’s Dancing fountains.
Doug is preceded in death by his father, Richard Vinson of Missouri; brothers, Thomas Vinson of Fort Worth, Darril Vinson of Fort Worth and grandson, Austin Spicer of Hernando, MS,
He is survived by his children, Troy Vinson (Hilary) of Mansfield, Jenni Vinson-Spicer of Hernando, MS, Keaton Vinson and Justin Vinson both of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; mother, Laura Vinson of North Richland Hills; two brothers, Steve Vinson (Debbie) of Keller and Brian Vinson (Olivian) of Winnsboro.
