R.W. “Bill” Williams, 87, a beloved husband, stepfather, and “grandpa,” passed peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 15, at Lighthouse Fellowship United Methodist Church, 7200 Robertson Road. Committal with military honors will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Biggers Funeral Home.
Bill was born October 1, 1927, in Converse, South Carolina, the second child of Kathleen Adair Williams and David L. Williams. He joined the United States Army in 1952 and retired in 1974 after 22 years of service. Bill also retired from General Motors Truck where he worked as a mechanic after his military service.
Bill was a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and caring friend to many.
He will be dearly missed by his “big” family.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Adair Williams; father, David L. Williams; and granddaughter, Sharon Shabander.
He is survived by his wife, Friederike “Frieda”; stepdaughter, Gabriele St. John (Don); granddaughters; Sheila St. John (Bill), Karin Essig (Jeffery); grandson, Kevin St. John (Monica); 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
