11DECORDOVA — Sara Dean left this life peacefully for heaven Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012. She finished her life on her own terms in Granbury.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Saturday at Wiley Funeral Home. Interment: Acton Cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cottey College for Women, 1000 W. Austin Blvd., Nevada, Mo. 64772, or a charity of choice.
Sara was born Dec. 12, 1931, to Mary Emily and Richard Nelson. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1953 and married Harry Frank Dean in April 1954. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, and was a proud third-generation P.E.O.
Sara had a sweet smile and a sunny disposition. Although life was not always easy for her, she never waited for life’s storms to pass; instead, she learned to dance in the rain and made the most of life. She relished bingo, mystery stories, “Wheel of Fortune,” “Jeopardy,” “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” and anything else that challenged her mind.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Granbury Care Center and Covenant Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
Survivors: Her husband, Harry; daughters, Mary and Helen; son, Harry; granddaughter, Reesa; brother, Richard Nelson and family; brother, Tom Nelson and family; brother-in-law, John Dean and family; brother-in-law, Beale Dean and family; her P.E.O sisters in Fort Worth, Midland and Houston; and many friends, including those from the two residential care facilities that she called home over the last 30-plus years.
