Selma Virginia Woods Johnson

Selma Woods Johnson died gracefully on August 17, 2020 in Weatherford, Texas, following a valiant fight against Scleroderma.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Birchman Baptist Church, 9100 N. Normandale, Fort Worth, Texas 76116.

From birth until her death, Selma nourished the people around her. She was a virtuous woman with generosity and grace for all. She never met a stranger and made deep and enduring friendships that she cherished all her days. She loved fiercely, stood firm with mercy and grace, and showered everyone with encouragement till she drew her last breath.

Selma grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Northside High School in 1962. She had many accomplishments as a young child and teenager. She received the calling of the Lord and followed into church ministry for over 35 years, ministering to women and children across the nation. In her most recent years, she was dedicated to advocating against violence. She was a member of the executive state board for Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) and a region representative, Guardians of Children (GOC) chapter Chaplin and child liaison, and all the while volunteering for causes dear to her heart. She was crowned Ms. Senior Parker County 2012 and Today’s American Woman Golden Mrs. TX 2015 and (TAW) Honorary National Queen in 2017. Known to many as Glamma, she left a sparkle and words of wisdom not to be forgotten. May her legacy continue to shine through all her knew her.

She was married to Walter Chop Johnson for 54 years and cherished her children, Buddy Johnson and Stephanie Johnson Duran. Her grandchildren, ShaNell Harbin, Garrett Johnson and Kendall Maxwell, were her pride and joy, along with her great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Nolyn Harbin, and Scarlett Rae Johnson. As the oldest sister of Starlene Woods Clawson and Roxanne Woods Torres, she wove a tapestry of love for family. Her nieces and nephews will never forget the smile and love of their beloved aunt.
