Don and family, Shery was a very special person. Her brilliance, kindness, poise and character were an example to us all. She faced a lot of personal adversity yet excelled in whatever she set her mind too. She was one of the smartest engineers, people for that matter, that I have ever met. I am a better person having worked with and gotten to know Sheryl during her time at General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin Fort Worth. I hope and pray that God will give you peace in knowing she is no longer suffering and now in a better place.
David & Ann Ziehe left a message on November 8, 2020:
Having had the opportunity to work alongside Sheryl on a project at Lockheed Martin, the engineer of our family came to know her as the dedicated, conscientious team player that she was. Little did he realize that this outstanding engineer would one day become our dear neighbor and friend. From early on, when she and Don moved into the house across the street from ours, Sheryl was always ready with a wave and a smile, and willing to spend time in front yard conversations, catching up briefly with each other's lives. Sheryl, Don, and later Sheryl's dad, Bob, have always been warm and neighborly, simple, but important qualities in times when people can live so near to one another, and not really get acquainted. We always knew we could count on Sheryl and Don to keep an eye on our house when we went out of town, and we tried to return the favor. Newspaper left out too long? It would be picked up and placed on the front porch. As written in the obituary tribute, Sheryl was remarkable in her kindness, sincerity, and caring for all those around her. To those qualities, add a beautiful humility, which became truly clear when we read of all her amazing achievements, skills, and interests, of which we knew very little, even having known her for many years. Sheryl had a tremendously giving spirit. We had not been neighbors very long when she came over at Christmastime with a gift for us, a fresh bay leaf door wreath, the first of several gifted to us in succeeding years. Her own mother had given bay leaf wreaths to neighbors at Christmas, and Sheryl was continuing that lovely tradition. Later, mutual donations to charities important to each other became the Christmas tradition. We were delighted to receive hand-knitted toboggan caps as gifts from her, and hear of the many she made for hospitalized infants, as well as for other friends. We have been blessed to have Sheryl, Don and Bob as our neighbors and friends, and we will always miss dear Sheryl.
