Sonja Moten, 75, of Glen Rose, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2020. Graveside service: 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2020, Glen Rose Cemetery Pavilion. Lie in State: Friday, March 6, 2020 and Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.
Sonja was born on January 4, 1945 in Meridian, Texas in Bosque County to Charlie and Imogene Epps. She was raised and lived most of her life in Glen Rose, Texas. She also lived in Grandview, Texas (where she met and married her husband, Don Moten on August 25, 1977), and at Cedar Creek Lake where she and Don enjoyed the lake life for many years.
Sonja worked as a cosmetologist, and loved traveling, golfing, and gardening. She was fun, loyal, fashionable, and would do anything for a friend or family member. Her fried chicken was legendary and she was passionate about Halloween. She adored her nieces and nephews and treasured the time with them.
She was preceded in death by her father: Charlie Epps, her mother: Imogene Epps, her sister: Charlie Jean Epps West, her brother: Samuel Epps, and her son: Chad Isles.
Sonja is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Don Moten, daughters: Kristi Moten, and Kelley Eades and her husband Don :all of Grandview, TX; grandchildren: Travis and Silena Tolar of Commerce City, CO; Parker Tolar of Kirkland, WA , and Gabe Vara of Glen Rose, TX plus many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sonja was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
