Sophie Juanita Poulter, 83, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 28, 2015. A longtime resident of Granbury, a private family memorial will be held in the future. Memorials can be made to the Family Crisis Center, 660 County Road 903, Cleburne TX 76033.
Sophie was born on January 18, 1932 in Johnson County to Manly and Mary Montgomery. The middle child of three, Sophie was raised on a dairy farm. She worked her way through school and obtained her A.A.S as a Certified Medical Assistant. Sophie had a passion for women’s issues and was a true caretaker. She volunteered at the Family Crisis Center in Cleburne helping battered women and the Christian Women’s Job Corp in Granbury. Sophie was a member of the Mambrino Baptist Church. Together with her husband D.L. they traveled and enjoyed life. Sophie was preceded in death by her husband of almost 20 years, D.L. Poulter, her parents and her siblings Glen Montgomery and Bonnie Faye Smith.
Sophie leaves behind her children John Fielding and wife Linda, Carolynn Poulter and husband Don, Billy Fielding and wife Robin, Richard Poulter; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
