Spencer Andrew “Andy” Smith, age 83, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Huguley Hospice. He was born on September 1, 1936 in Nashburg, Tennessee. He was one of seven children.
Spencer is survived by his wife, Joyce Smith, his children, Sandra Hinds, Tina Doughty and Chris, Joseph Rockwell and Karen Moffit and Melissa Armstrong, his grandchildren; Melinda Stewart, Chey Galindo, Thomas Rockwell, , Kayla Zankel, Clinton and Nicole Smith, P.J. Socolov, his great-grandchildren: Cesar Rockwell, Joaquin Rockwell, Raylan Galindo, and Ezekiel Galindo.
Spencer started working at age 14 to help his Dad in the cotton fields. Then at age 18, he worked as a tool and die mechanic until the 1980’s when he started working security. In 1993, he started driving trucks, where he enjoyed seeing the different places he would go. After 14 years he came off the road and started working at a local convenience store for the past eight years because he just had to work to stay busy.

My grandfather was a hard working man, and did everything soulfully for his family so we could have food on the table clothes on our back, and anything else we needed, he knew exactly what he wanted in life and that was for his family to be happy and to live as we came, I bless the heavenly father that took him away from his pain and sent him home I will worship him forever, because now I have a beautiful angel looking over me and my family, even when we didn't deserve it, I love you and will forever miss you grandpa, it's not a goodbye it's a see you at home later.
