Stanley Smith transitioned from this life on November 2, 2018. He was born on August 04, 1930 in Tulsa to Harold Fred and Katie Smith. He grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1948. He attended Tulsa University but put his studies on hold while serving as a Marine in the Korean War. Upon his return, he finished his degree at Tulsa University and married Shirley Rowley at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Tulsa in 1954.
Stanley’s career took their family to several locations including Little Rock, Dallas, and finally Bonham, TX where they lived on a farm while he continued to commute to work in Dallas. Stanley enjoyed the rural life and had cattle and farming operations. He was a member of Edhube Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and worked with various ministries. He also volunteered at the Manna House in Bonham. Stanley enjoyed bird watching, getting together with friends, telling funny stories, and reading about anything to do with farming.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two daughters, Leslie Smith in 1961, and Janet Brown in 1979. He is survived by two sons, Brad of Garland, Gary and his wife Gwen of Weatherford, two granddaughters, Cavyn Smith and Karis Smith of Richardson, and one grandson Jared Smith of Lubbock. He is also survived by former son-in-law Harry Brown and his wife Deana of Tyler and their three children. His laughter and friendliness will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to the Arbor House of Granbury and their wonderful staff where Stanley lived for the past two years.
