Steven Howard Keene, affectionately known by his family and friends as Dad, Paw-Paw, Steve-O, Steve, and Big Daddy.  He was a strong and courageous man who chose life when he was faced with bone cancer.  He died on December 19, 2020 from complications of surgery.

Steve was born on May 26,1946, and was adopted when he was two by Ralph and Joyce Keene.  He graduated from Haltom High School, in Haltom City, Texas, in 1964, and after a brief time at the University of Texas he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965.  He did two tours in Vietnam, 1965 to 1966 and 1967 to 1968.  He went on to serve 12 years in the Marine Corps until 1978, when he started work with the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 2001.  He later joined the United States Navy Reserve, transferred to the United States Army Reserves and eventually retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Army National Guard in 2004.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, Christi, his children, Tandy Keene; Tiffany Daniel and her husband, Mike; Tracy Constant and her husband, Bill; Carri Stephens and her wife, Jan; and Clint Fowler and his wife Sara.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler Keene and his wife, Lanie Roberts, Nathan Daniel, Kelsi Constant, Faith Daniel, Cameron Fowler, Casey Fowler and his great-granddaughter, Lyla-Kaye Keene.  He also left behind his best friend of almost 70 years, James “Monty” Montgomery, who he grew up with in Haltom City.

Steve was an avid golfer and golfed at every opportunity. More importantly, though, was Steve’s devotion to his Catholic faith and his dedication to the homeless.  He was the ministry lead in Virginia for over 10 years helping to feed the homeless.  As his health declined and he relocated to Fort Worth, he continued his devotion through prayer, donations, and volunteered whenever he was able.  He was a third-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, Council 10930 in Fort Worth.  He was a military Veteran who served proudly for over 34 years.  His family loved his wonderful sense of humor, his “joke of the day”, and the fact that he loved Hot Tamale candy warmed up in the microwave. He loved his family fiercely and lived life with a zest that was evident with everyone he met. He will be missed.
