Suzanne Reneé (Mapes) Tramel, 55, unexpectedly went to be with our Lord on Sunday morning, January 2, 2022.
There will be a private service at this time. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Our beautiful Suzanne was born December 31, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas. Suzanne was a 1985 graduate of Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas. She resided most of her life in the local metroplex area, including Fort Worth, Arlington, Granbury, Rendon, and Bridgeport. She also spent time in Houston, Quanah, Goodlett, Corsicana, California, and Kingman, AZ. Suzanne was a Christian and when asked if she was saved responded, “Yes I am” and “Yes I pray.”
Suzanne went to beauty school to earn her operator’s license. She worked as assistant manager for an Arlington salon. She appreciated the world of beauty and fashion. She paid special attention to her hair and makeup. She loved the smell of good perfume and enjoyed having her nails done. Her favorite color was purple. Suzanne loved dogs and missed her little Andy when she had to leave him behind. She loved all kinds of music including George Strait (her favorite) and Bon Jovi. She enjoyed watching movies and cheering for local sports teams the Dallas Cowboys, the Mavericks, and the Texas Rangers. She enjoyed playing bingo, journaling, word search puzzles, cheeseburgers and fries, chicken fried steak, and her favorite food was anything chocolate.
Suzanne married Rory Glenn Tramel on November 14, 1987. To celebrate her 21st birthday they were going attend a George Strait concert. That morning of her birthday she was in a car accident that sent her down a very different path in life. We almost lost our dear Suzanne that day, but she fought the odds. She was in a coma for several months and then on to rehab. With the love and devotion of family, friends, and numerous medical staff and caregivers, she struggled to function again, to walk and talk, and learn to overcome the permanent damage to her brain and body. She was determined to live her best life. She eventually attended her favorite musician’s concert and was introduced to George Strait. She lived at home for several years until eventually moving to a nursing home. She had plenty of spunk and loads of sass and hardly ever complained. She would cut her eyes, shrug her shoulders and keep on going. She continued to have a meaningful and loving life for several years. She was an inspiration to many.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her mother Sharron Raylene Wilson Hardin; her father James Louis Mapes, Jr.; and her younger brother Von Andrew (Andy) Mapes.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband Rory Tramel; his daughter Amber Wheeler and her sons Dylan and Derek; his daughter Candace Gorman and husband Bryan and their sons Caleb and Ethan; her sister Jenna McGill and her son Jeremy Rodriguez and wife Tiffany and their children Michaela and Joshua; her sister Debbie Wright and her daughter Beatrice Wright; her sister Melody Glover and husband Geary and their family; her stepfather Allen Hardin and daughter Melody; an extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; a host of friends; and many of her caregivers.
We are very grateful and thankful to those who lovingly supported and cared for Suzanne and helped make her everyday life more bearable, comfortable, and enjoyable.
