T. Edward Slayton, Jr.

GRANBURY — T. Edward Slayton, Jr., 69, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 in Granbury. Memorial service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Memorial military honors: 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 7, 2016, at Dallas – Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Edward was born Oct. 17, 1946 in Norfolk, VA to Tison Edward Slayton, Sr. and Frances Ilene Welch Slayton. He married Janet Carroll on Oct. 9, 1987 in Aurora, CO. Edward retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Delta Hearts of Gold Local Chapter of PET Partners where he and Sydney, his therapy dog, helped children and others with therapy. He was a pilot for American Airlines, loved to ski, scuba dive, the outdoors and the mountains, dogs, spending time with family and was a proud husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors: Wife, Janet A. Slayton; children, daughter, Erika Slayton, daughter, Amy and Daryle Ryan and son, Edward and Lacey Slayton; grandchildren, Thomas, Delisa, Jonathan, Nathan, Derrik, Colten, Micah, Gabriel, Jakob, Kali and Kenzi; three great grandchildren; brother, Craig and Beverly Slayton; nieces, nephews and a number of cousins.
