Thomas Allyn Matzen, 84, of Granbury, Texas passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Granbury.  Memorial service: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Acton United Methodist Church, Granbury.  Inurnment: Holly Hills Columbarium at a later date.

 

On September 8, 1933, Thomas was welcomed into the home of Lloyd and Lamoyne Benson Lamb in Mason City, Iowa. After graduating high school he proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. He married Geraldine “Gerry” Bishop on April 6, 1956 in Waterloo, Iowa. They had two sons and a daughter. Thomas enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He owned a travel trailer and loved traveling. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Thomas will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife Gerry; his parents and his brother Gerald Andrew Matzen.

 

Survivors: Sons Wayne Matzen and wife Teresa, Jeff Matzen; daughter Kim Wimberley and husband Walter; 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
