Beloved and respected husband, son, brother, grandfather and friend, he was born in Odessa, Texas on June 26, 1944 to his parents, Thomas D. Murphy, Jr. and Dorothy Lee Kimes Murphy.
A 1962 graduate from Permian High School in Odessa, he then graduated from UT Austin in 1966 with a degree in Business Administration. Tom built custom homes for 44 years in Colorado, Arizona and Texas, ultimately owning T.D. Murphy Classic Homes in Granbury. He took great pride and pleasure in seeing those homes he had built over the years and became lifelong friends with many customers.
Golf was a passion throughout his life, from an early age. He made two holes-in-one before graduating high school and always maintained a low handicap. He and his wife, Debbie, spent many happy times cruising and traveling all over the world, something they loved to do together.
The grandson of missionaries, Tom was a lifelong Christian and was a dedicated member of Lakeside Baptist Church, where he volunteered in many different capacities. He loved his bible study class and classmates. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Tom is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Lee; stepmother, Rubye; sisters, Catherine Anne (Fifi) and Paula; and his infant granddaughter, Timper Jean.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Debra Jean Murphy; father, Thomas D. Murphy, Jr.; siblings, Julie Stillwell (Gary), L. Deane Murphy (Kathy), Bonnie Hines (Bob); sons, Dave (Chris), Louis (Shelby); daughter, Cristina (Daniel). He leaves behind six grandchildren, Zane, Jettin, Maverick, Haze, Nolan and Nixon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
