Valta J. Heffley, 81, of Granbury, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

Valta was born on September 17, 1936 in Southmade, Texas to Archie and Vera Walden. She received her master’s degree from North Texas State University. She taught elementary school for 38 years at Granbury ISD, Acton ISD and HEB ISD. She also ran a RV park in New Mexico.
Valta was a real life firecracker, who never met a stranger and could talk to anybody. She was very active with her church family at Acton Baptist Church. She volunteered at Lake Granbury Medical Center for 12 years.
Valta enjoyed golfing, tennis, and travelling. She was an avid reader who read a novel a day. She also had a thriving flower and vegetable garden. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Valta is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gerald Heffley, son: Colin Heffley and Alisa Dearing, granddaughters: Lauren Nicole, Marissa Lee, and Courtney Linda, brother: Archie Don Walden and wife Rosemary, niece Tina Haines and husband Scott, and nephew David Lane Walden.
